Waitakere City Council Public Facilities Monitoring
Waitakere City Council has a number of public halls and toilets that rely on onsite water supplies and onsite wastewater disposal, many of which are located in some of Auckland’s premier destinations, such as Karekare, Piha and Bethells Beaches. The Council recognises the importance of ensuring that these facilities operate in a manner that does not jeopardize the pristine qualities of these locations and protects public health.
Under the Greenlight programme, Andrew.Stewart Limited has been engaged to ensure that these facilities operate within the site-specific resource consent conditions. This involves the collection and interpretation of water and effluent quality, and recommendations to address any potential issues ensuring the ongoing protection of the environment. The information is managed using consent compliance toolkit CS-VUE.
Our objective is to provide a single point of contact, with a comprehensive service of monitoring and data management that highlights any issues requiring attention and demostrates compliance. This enables WCC to:
- Meet their legal obligation under the RMA ie compliance monitoring
- Establish an audit trail prior to ARC reporting
- Early identification of assets that do not meet resource consent conditions
- Comply with Drinking Water Standards for facilities that provide potable water
- Ensure that watertake volumes are within consent
- Gather suffidient monitoring data to enable sampling frequency to be reduced in the future via a variation to consent
- Have confidence in their service provider
- Have a single source provider that is accountable to WCC
The programme currently involves:
- Sample collection
- Laboratory analysis
- Equipment Calibration
- Data management and evaluation
- Compliance reporting
- Management recommendations
The programme currently covers seven different facilities.
