Panmure Basin Improvements: 156-160 Ireland Road & 18A Watene Road
The popular recreational environment of Panmure Basin has been further enhanced with the completion of the construction of a link path and seawall extension. These new additions at 156 – 160 Ireland Road and 18A Watene Road, respectively, serve to improve access for residents and visitors to the area so they can enjoy the fantastic fitness and water activities that Panmure Basin is well known for.
The retaining wall at the edge of Peterson Reserve is an extension to the existing stone seawall that surrounds the waters edge. The construction of this coastal protection structure was necessary to address a small slip at this area of the Panmure Basin Foreshore and providing protection to properties located close to the foreshore which is vulnerable to coastal erosion.
Andrew.Stewart Environmental Planner, Ofeira Faasau considers these works as highly beneficial to residents and visitors to the area and is glad that she will also get to enjoy Panmure Basin more with the addition of these facilities.
