Owhanake Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade - 2004/05

To ensure that sustainable growth occurs within the area, Auckland City Council upgraded the Owhanake Wastewater Treatment Plant - located on Lot 37 DP 183 455 Ocean View Road, Waiheke Island.

Andrew.Stewart Limited was commissioned to prepare the necessary resource consent application on behalf of the applicant, and to consult on the issues surrounding the proposed upgrade.

Consent Notification & Decisions

The Resource Consent Applications were heard at a public hearing held on Waiheke Island from the 24th to the 28th of May 2004. In summary, the decisions made by ARC/ACC are:

1. The consent to discharge wastewater to the wetland was granted in part up to 250m³/ day.
2. The consent to discharge contaminants to air was granted in full. 
3. The ARC consent for works in a watercourse was granted in full. 
4. The ACC consent for earthworks and building was granted in full (works as required for 250m³).

The consent application decisions have been appealed to the Environment Court by the People and Community of Waiheke Ltd.
